2008 Theater Boosts Cultural Attraction of Naples, Florida
Kristen Coury, a theater director, and The D’Jamoos Group, a Naples, Florida developer, have “announced plans to build a 500-seat professional regional theater” in the fall of 2008 in Estero.
The D’Jamoos Group is donating enough land in the company’s proposed Estero on the River development to build the 35,000 square foot Gulfshore Playhouse, which would include the main stage, a 125 seat studio, rehearsal space and the theater offices. The Estero on the River project “would have a mix of residential, retail, office and cultural components” that would all benefit the Naples, Florida area.
Coury says that she’s “delighted with the location” because it will serve Bonita, Fort Meyers and Naples, Florida population. She and D’Jamoos have already begun “their campaign to raise an estimated $15 million to build the theater and cover expenses for the first season in the fall 2008.”
Producing artistic director for the Florida Rep, Robert Cacioppo, welcomes the Gulfshore Playhouse to the Naples, Florida area, adding that “One of the reasons I’m excited about living in Southwest Florida is how much more arts will be happening here in the next decade.”
