About Naples

Naples is a city of 24,000 located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida. It’s named for Naples Italy, its sister city. With a median household income of nearly $70,000, and a cost of living that’s below the national average, Naples offers a relaxed life style, world-famous shopping, fine dining, boating, fishing, and, of course, golf. Naples is
known as the Golf Capital with more golf holes per capita than any place in the world.

†Art lovers will appreciate the city’s 100+ art galleries and two art museums. The
Philharmonic Center for the Arts is host to national and international dance companies, orchestras, theatrical productions and jazz groups. In the summer, free jazz concerts are offered at the Naples Beach Hotel.

The city was once primarily a winter get-away destination. Today Naples is a thriving city with a strong job base that attracts young families and Baby Boomers nearing retirement, along with retirees.

One of the interesting areas of the city is the two-square mile Old Naples neighborhood where coconut palms line the streets and all the east-west avenues end at the beach. Old Naples real estate is an eclectic a mix of vintage cottages, beach estates turn of the century homes, modern single-family homes and condo residences.

Conservation and protection of wildlife are very much a part of the Naples culture.
The city is near Everglades National Park, North America’s only subtropical preserve, and the only place you can find both alligators and crocodiles. The park is also known for a wide variety of large wading birds. The mix of temperate and tropical plantlife in the Everglades includes sawgrass prairies, mangrove and cypress swamps, pinelands, and hardwood hammocks.
